Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Workday Payroll Analyst will be a part of the Workday Enterprise Services Team at the University of Maryland, College Park in the Division of Information Technology (DIT). This position serves as a subject matter expert for the payroll/payroll accounting processing and will support continuous improvement of business processes by performing cross functional solutions analysis, design, configuration, testing and implementation across the Workday business areas and integrating systems that support the business process. This role will partner with business stakeholders on solutions and then implement system changes to support the end-to-end business process and requirements with State agencies.
This role will regularly collaborate with other Workday Business Process as well as Workday Support and Development teams, end users, business sponsors and application teams outside of Workday to confirm business requirements, identify solutions that support the end-to-end business process and enhance business capabilities. The Payroll Analyst will maintain breadth of knowledge across various business processes and the applications that support the payroll, and payroll accounting processes.
The Workday Payroll Analyst contributes to the creation of deliverables of the highest quality and presents leading practice solutions. This role will support the objectives of the Workday Enterprise Services team, document processes and requirements, perform system configuration, coordinate, plan and execute testing efforts, and use a variety of project management tools to track and report status and progress. The successful candidate is an excellent communicator, critical thinker, motivated with a positive attitude, and able to independently work on and balance priorities for multiple initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.

Experience:
- Minimum of five (5+) years’ experience with payroll, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., Workday).
- Minimum of three (3+) years of specific experience with payroll and payroll-related ERP functionality.
- Experience providing support, problem identification, and resolution
- Expertise with office productivity applications such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of payroll-related processes and functions
- Ability to identify potential and actual problems, develop solutions and resolve to a positive outcome in the midst of simultaneously occurring work activities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Attention to detail and strong organization skills with the ability to provide detailed documentation of processes and procedures
- Collaboration and strong communication skills to solicit ideas for system improvements, adoption, and ease of use
- Technical support experience, including researching and resolving issues and recommending solutions or alternative methods to meet business needs
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under various conditions and constraints
- Ability to work as part of a team and with other functional/technical team members to identify action items, team member responsibilities, etc.
- Ability to understand possible impacts of changes to a highly integrated system, determine the depth/breadth of testing necessary to minimize the risk of system changes, execute and record results of testing, etc.
- Analytical abilities, critical thinking, and problem-solving competencies to support non-standard, unique problem resolution
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including relationship, communication (verbal & written), and conflict management
- Expertise with office productivity applications such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office

Salary range $98,000-$105,000
